If everybody hates the Times, they must be doing something right, eh?

Have to laugh to keep from spitting at Hewitt's conflation in the same sentence of the words "honor" and "Nixon." I resisted the impulse to click on the Coulter link next to Hewitt's column, although she might have had some valuable tips on how to make shit up and get away with it.

Maybe I've been deluded thinking the Times was still honorable and respected, but I can't help feeling the way I did when Clinton got himself busted: The crime is petty compared to the damage it will do. If one accepts the premise that the paper was a liberal voice (less of a canard than the notion that CNN is), then what will replace it if its credibility can be dismissed by those it criticizes?

It's enough to make you think Jayson Blair was a mole on Richard Mellon Scaife's tab. Flip through Ann Coulter's last book if you don't think the right harbors an irrational hatred for the Times, as well as an apparent interest in inflating its supposed reach and influence to thereby excuse, having established its power and perfidy, destroying it by any means necessary.
