More Monkeys!


Courtesy Julian Bond's gnews2rss.php, I've added the ten most recent Google News headlines with the word "monkey" to the PuddingTime front page sidebar. It gets some false positives, but it helps fill the void when MonkeyWire is slow to get a monkey item.

Thanks, btw, to Monkey X for making me wonder about how I could integrate monkeys into the site somehow.

I see your obsession grows as does your power. Good, good, give in to the power of the Monkeys... let it consume you, my young apprentice.

However, disadvantages of grepping Google News is you get a lot of repeat entries plus there seems to be a focus on monkey attacks rather than pressing positive monkey issues. As a monkey, I think this stereotyping of monkeys as violent animals is dishonest and dare I say it, racist?

It's those damned redundant AP wire reports! They keep holding me back!

But I sort of like tales of monkey ambushes and besieged towns in remote provinces. Maybe there's a site out there with a feed that has more balanced monkey coverage...
